Communication is key to helping students know where there are in their journey to mastery. If I go back to my labyrinth connection we all needed to know where we were on the journey through the labyrinth in order to successfully reach the center. If we were not aware of where we were in the journey we could have gone off track and never reached our goal. In my work I need to communicate with not only the student, but also with their team of adults. Communication with the students will be done on a weekly basis by giving them feedback on the practice activities. It will be done through formatives every two weeks by giving them feedback using their Unit Learning Scales. Feedback will be given to parents and other educators after every unit, also using the Unit Learning Scales.
Students will self assess for habits of learning every two weeks using the rubric provided for them. Teachers working with them will also assess them. The teacher and student will then meet to talk about their assessment and to develop a plan for meeting any targets on which they have not achieved a 3 or greater.
